My screen goes black and freezes for at least two maps, valence and MP_neuville. Only fix I've found is to use Task Manager to end COD and restart after the map has ended. Other maps work fine. Any suggestions?

When does this happen, when the map downloads or after it starts?

There are many possible issues, but start by deleting the map files in the kingbot folder.
Download the files manually from these links and put them in the kingbot folder ( you can also wait for them to be downloaded automatically again) :

I deleted the valence_v2 map file and tried to start it up the next time it came up as a choice. I watched the download, the still shot appeared and again the screen froze and went black. Same as before.

Please post a screenshot of your graphic and texture settings.

Don't know how to capture screen with COD in full screen. My gaming machine is different from the business machine I'm using for this communication. Graphics options on gaming machine where I play COD are:
Video Mode 1920x1080
Screen Refresh Rate 60 Hz
Aspect Ratio Auto
Texture Filter Bilinear
Anti-aliasing Off
Rendering Method Preference DirectX 7
Brightness (about centered)
Sync Every Frame No
Optimize for SLI No
Soften Smoke Edges Off
Texture Settings --- Texture Quality Automatic

Try to change Rendering Method Preference DirectX 7 to Auto

I tried setting Rendering Method Preference to Auto and the result was a very jerky video which I found unusable. Couldn't hit targets and moving objects seemed to jump rather than move smoothly. I'd rather not use the maps I'm having trouble with than leave it set to Auto. I never did see one of the troublesome maps come up in the rotation. I may try setting it to Auto when one of those maps become a choice and give it a try.
