unless i'm not noticing it, there doesn't seem to be a way to respond to a specific post with quotes. so i guess my suggestion would be to enable it if this format permits it.

It's a bug due to the forum theme. I'll try and fix it, but as a short-term workaround you can enable the stock theme from your User Control Panel > Board Preferences
